Wednesday, September 1st, 2010: Youngster Mercedes Gandara emerged as the latest American League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Minnesota deserved the honor, batting .412 with 5 home runs and 16 runs batted in. Is the month of August a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Gandara enjoy the limelight.
This year Gandara has hit at a .306 clip with 154 hits, 17 home runs, 57 RBIs and 99 runs scored.
